FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AB/C, Consolidated Communications and Lufkin Recycling Center Phone Book Recycling Drive a Success

The 16th annual telephone directory recycling campaign wrapped up last week after the new 2007 Consolidated Communications telephone directories were delivered.  Angelina Beautiful/Clean, Consolidated Communications and the City of Lufkin Regional Recycling Center continually encourage area residents and businesses to recycle their old phone directories.

The phone book recycling drive started in mid-August and continued until last week when the yellow recycling containers located in the parking lots of Brookshire Brothers and beside the Consolidated Communications Business Office on First Street in Lufkin, were picked up.  Residents are encouraged to recycle their directories any time during the year at the Lufkin Recycling Center on Farm Road 819.

According to Tony Moline, AB/C Executive Director, "For the past 16 years, the response to this campaign has been outstanding.  Residents and businesses in Angelina County have been very supportive of this program.  Since the inception of this campaign, we have kept more than 98 tons of old phone books out of the Angelina County landfill."

"Last year, more than 3 tons of directories were collected.  This year's goal of 5 tons was passed at 5.86 tons being collected.  The phone books are collected by the Houston-based company that will shred them to create insulation" .
